Christmas 08

We had a great Christmas in Oklahoma City with Drew's family.  We woke up early and went over to Drew's sister's house.  It was fun to watch the little kids open their presents.  We also went to a movie that day and had dinner at Drew's parent's house that night.  My favorite gift was from Drew and it was a sewing machine!  I am very excited to start practicing.  On Saturday we really celebrated Christmas when Drew's brother Porter and his wife Lynn got in town.  We did our secret santa gift exchange and all of the girls made dinner. Here are a few pictures.

Drew's Surgery

Drew's surgery was successful today!  We got to the hospital at 9:30 and he went into surgery at about 11:45. During the surgery they put a rod in his arm which is held in place by two screws.  The procedure took about an hour.  When I finally got to see drew I found him on the hospital bed and it looked like he was sleeping.  When I gave him a kiss he kept his eyes closed and said, "who is that?  Why is there a nurse kissing me?" I thought he was kidding but I wasn't sure so I was like, "honey, it's me your wife Brittany."  Drew replied with "who?"  Then I saw him smirk and I knew he was pulling my leg.  He was talking and very alert and drank about four things of apple juice because he was so thirsty.  Before the surgery he had a bulky splint thing and sling and now he has an arm stabilizer.  He said it is much more comfortable.  When he stood up to get dressed he got extremely tired and shaky.  He is doing just fine now.  I think eating helped.  Now he is at home on the couch watching the Lakers-Heat game.  Thank you for all of your prayers!  Here is a picture of Drew in the hospital.

My Poor Baby

Well, for those of you who don't know......Drew broke his arm.  He completely broke the bone between his elbow and shoulder!  It happened on Friday night.  We went to dinner and then were supposed to go out for a friends going away party.  After dinner I was not feeling great so I went home, took some medicine and was out.  Sean dropped Drew off at our apartment later.  Drew was going to cut through the pool area instead of walking through the gate that cars drive through but you need a swiper.  He didn't have this so he decided to just hop the fence.  However; his foot got caught on the gate and he fell on his left arm.  He said he didn't know where his arm was at first because it was laying on his back-yuck!!!!  He tried to call me but I was out (I feel so bad) and didn't hear my phone.  Sean came back and got him and took him to the ER.  Today we went to the doctor and it turns out Drew has to have surgery.  He will go in on Friday to have a rod put in his bone.  He is on pain medication and is off of work until after the new year.  As he has said, "I have just been in lala land for a few days."  Anyway, even though he is uncomfortable he is still making jokes and in good spirits.  Here are a few pictures.

Thanksgiving Weekend

Drew and I had a wonderful time in Phoenix for Thanksgiving.  We had fun spending lots of time with my family.  We also made it out a couple of nights to visit with old friends.  We made it to all of our favorite AZ restaurants- Oregano's, AZ 88 and Z-Tejas.  We also enjoyed loads of delicious home cooking.  The best was Thanksgiving dinner!  My friend Christina got Drew and I tickets to the Suns game and that was a blast.  Drew was so excited because they played Miami and Dwayne Wade is Drew's favorite player.

It's Beginning to Look a lot Like Christmas

Well, I know it's a little bit early but I put up christmas decorations on Sunday.  Drew was giving me a hard time for putting them up before Thanksgiving.  In my defense, we are leaving tonight for Phoenix and I won't be back until the second so I wanted to get them up before I left.  I just adore Christmas decorations!  My favorite thing that we have is our Christmas quilt that my Grandma Maksym made for us.  She gave it to us for our first Christmas as a married couple.  It is so special to us because we know it must have taken her forever to make and it is adorable!  Anyway, here are some pictures of our apartment to get you all in the holiday spirit! I hope everyone has a happy Thanksgiving!

The Auction

Last night Drew and I went to my school auction. I have the best husband! Not all of the husbands go but Drew has been both years. Anyway, the theme was You Should be Dancing. People could dress in 70's or cocktail attire. More than half of the parents were decked out in their go-go boots and short dresses and dad's in swirly shirts. Everyone looked great! We didn't bid on anything. Drew really wanted to buy the chocolate lab puppy or the football signed by Peyton Manning, Ellie Manning(sp?) and their dad. I wanted the two week stay in Tuscany. There is a family at my school who owns a huge villa there. The trip even came with access to their Maserati and Lamborghini! If only we had an extra $50,000 laying around! Lets just say going to this auction is a great way to feel poor haha. Anyway, the dinner was very nice and delicious. Then, we spend the night dancing and talking to parents. They had a great band and the dance floor was packed all night. We had a wonderful night!!

Halloween

Last night we hosted a Halloween party with seven of our friends.  The party was at Sean, Nathan and David's loft.  They have a really cool converted warehouse and they actually live in the G unit.  The title of our party was The BOOz BALL and we had so much fun!  Drew dressed up as the oil man from the movie There Will Be Blood and I was an elf.  We saw some very creative costumes!  Some of my favorites were: Julia Roberts from Pretty Woman with the white and blue number and the tall boots, frogs that were hilarious, David was LeBron James and Sean was Big Ben Wallace.  They both wore stilts and painted their bodies black.  There were also American Gladiators and Nathan was Beetle Juice.  Afton was even sweet enough to bring me birthday cupcakes with candles and everything.  We had a great time!
